The National Summer Learning Association reports that students lose an equivalent of two months of their grade-level math skills over the summer, and student's from low-income families lose the same equivalency in reading achievement as well.

While summer is an exciting time for kids to have fun and step away from the classroom, it's not a time for them to stop learning.

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities are perfect for keeping children's minds engaged. They build curiosity, imagination, creativity and other skills, in addition to keep their reading, math and science knowledge in check.
