How to Create an Access Indiana Account

Starting June 1, 2022, you will log into I-LEAD in a new way – using a portal called Access Indiana. Access Indiana is a single sign-on portal that will make doing business in Indiana easier while keeping user information safe and secure. You can prepare for this transition by creating your Access Indiana account, using the same email address you use to access I-LEAD.

Follow these steps to create an Access Indiana account.

Visit https://access.in.gov and click Don’t have an Access Indiana account?


Enter your email address and click Send Verification Code. Go to your email account and find the five-digit code from no-reply@www.in.gov. Enter the code in the Verification Code section of the page and click Continue. 


On the next screen, you will be asked to create a password. The text on the right will help you create a strong password with a mix of lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers and symbols. Once you have entered and confirmed your password, click Continue.


On the next screen, you will be asked to enter some more information about you, including your first name, last name and phone number. Then click Create Account.

On the next page, you can sign up for two-step verification. This is optional but will make your account more secure. If you sign up, you will be asked for a unique code each time you sign in using Access Indiana. Once you have made your selection, click Continue to move to the next page.


Setting up a recovery email can help you keep access to your account if your email address changes. Click No, thanks. or Yes, please! and then click Continue. If you selected Yes, please! you will be asked to enter a recovery email address.

You have successfully created your Access Indiana account. If you created this account before June 1, 2022, you will continue to use I-LEAD by visiting ilead.in.gov and signing in using your I-LEAD email address and password. Beginning June 1, 2022, you will go to the same page but sign in using your new Access Indiana password.

  • What is Access Indiana?

    Access Indiana is the State of Indiana’s single sign-on portal. You can use one username and one password to easily and securely access multiple state services.

  • Why do we need to use Access Indiana?

    Beginning on June 1, I-LEAD will only be accessible through Access Indiana. This will allow you to more easily access I-LEAD along with other government sites you may use. You will still be able to access other sites such as Indiana Learning Paths and My SPARK Learning Lab through the I-LEAD homepage.

  • I don't know if I have an I-LEAD account.

    If you are an educator, your program leader can check the I-LEAD roster to see if you have an account. Otherwise, you can contact the Brighter Futures Indiana Solution Center for more information.

  • I don’t know if I have an Access Indiana account.

    Go ahead and create an Access Indiana account using the email address you use for I-LEAD.

  • What email address do I need to use to create my Access Indiana account?

    You can change the email address connected to your Access Indiana account from your Access Indiana dashboard. Click the CHANGE EMAIL ADDRESS button on the dashboard. You can then enter a new email address. Once you have completed this process, the new email address will be your username to log into Access Indiana.

  • What if I don't have access to the email address that I use for I-LEAD?

    You can get assistance from the Brighter Futures Indiana Solution Center to fix this problem.

  • What if I don't have access to my Access Indiana email address?

    If you no longer have access to the email account that you used at account creation, you can still login with your username (email address) and password. Once logged in, you can change your email address from the Access Indiana dashboard (https://access.IN.gov).

    If you do not know your password and cannot access either email account, you will need to create a new Access Indiana account.

  • Will my password change?

    Beginning on June 1, your Access Indiana password will allow you to sign into I-LEAD. You should continue using your usual I-LEAD password until that date.

  • My password doesn't work.

    Before June 1, you should continue using your usual I-LEAD password to access the site. If you do not remember your I-LEAD password, you can easily reset it. Your Access Indiana password can also be reset if needed.

  • I already have an Access Indiana account.

    "If the email address you used for your Access Indiana account is the same email address you use for I-LEAD, your accounts will automatically be linked starting on June 1.

    If you have used different email addresses for your Access Indiana and I-LEAD accounts, you will need to change your Access Indiana email address to match your I-LEAD username or contact the Brighter Futures Indiana Solution Center for assistance."

  • Can I help my staff find their I-LEAD logins?

    Yes! If you are a provider admin within your program, you can view your staff roster. Clicking VIEW DETAILS on an individual's name will allow you to view that person's I-LEAD username.

  • Can I share an Access Indiana login?

    No, each person should have their own Access Indiana account.

  • What if I have more than one I-LEAD account?

    "Educators with more than one account can merge their accounts together, using these steps.

  • What is two-step verification?

    Two-step verification adds an extra layer of security to your account. With two-step verification, whenever you sign in you will need to enter both your password and a verification code. This verification code will be sent to your phone with a text message or voice phone call or it can be sent to your email address.

  • I logged into I-LEAD after June 1 and my dashboard no longer contains my provider or educator information. What happened?

    You may have used an email address for Access Indiana that was different than your I-LEAD email address. To fix this, you can change your email address in Access Indiana to match your previous I-LEAD username or contact the Brighter Futures Indiana Solution Center for assistance.
